The Punjab Kings have released the full list of players ahead of the upcoming 2024 edition of the IPL.
The franchise being led by the experienced Shikhar Dhawan will look to start fresh as they aim to put their woes from the previous season behind them. Along with Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh and others will look to improve on their previous campaign.
The side from Punjab has opted to let go of the services of Indians Shahrukh Khan, Raj Angad Bawa, Baltej Dhanda, and Mohit Rathee, and overseas player Bhanuka Rajapaksa ahead of the 2024 edition of the money-rich T20 franchise league.
The release of Indian batsman Shahrukh Khan comes as the biggest surprise from the Punjab camp. The right-hand batsman has established his prowess with the willow and there are multiple teams who will be happy to pick up the 28-year-old player from Tamil Nadu.
Skipper Dhawan will lead the side yet again as the Preity Zinta, Ness Wadia, Karan Paul and Rohit Burman co-owned side go in search of their very first title, despite having been active in the IPL ever since the tournament’s inception all the way back in 2008.
PBKS finished in eighth place in the previous edition of the IPL with 12 points to their name as they managed to win 6 games while losing 8, to end up outside the play-off position yet again.
Formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, the side underwent a name change in hopes of a turn in fortunes as well, but that hasn’t come to pass as yet and Dhawan will be looking to alter the course of things for the franchise from Mohali.
The coaching staff led by Trevor Bayliss along with Wasim Jaffer and Charles Langeveldt will look to improve their side and make a bid for the title.
