A total of INR 230.45 crore was spent on 72 players in the mini auction on Tuesday in Dubai. Australia duo Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins scripted history as the duo fetched over INR 20 crore which happened for the first time in IPL history. Cummins was the first one who breached the 20 mark and was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 20.5 crore. However, only a few minutes later, Kolkata Knight Riders broke the bank for Starc as he was bought for a whopping INR 25.75 crore and he became the most costliest player in tournament history.
Harshal Patel turned out to be the most expensive Indian player as Punjab Kings acquired his services for INR 11.75 crore, followed by uncapped Sameer Rizvi who fetched a massive INR 8.4 crore.
Daryl Mitchell and Spencer Johnson were the two surprise packages in the auction as Chennai Super Kings signed the Kiwi all-rounder for a massive Rs 14 crore, while Gujarat Titans acquired the young Aussie pacer for INR 10 crore.
Rachin Ravindra (INR 1.8 crore) and Wanindu Hasaranga (1.5 crore) were the two smartest buys from the auction by Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively.
