Elon Musk-owned popular micro-blogging platform X (previously known as Twitter) is reportedly planning to offer more than one subscription tier, providing the option to remove ads soon. The Premium subscription offering might be split into three parts—Premium Basic, Premium Standard, and Premium Plus.
According to MacRumors, Premium Basic includes full ads in the For You feed, Premium Standard claims to have half ads in For You, and Premium Plus plan says there will be ads in the For You feed.
“Given the specific mention of the For You feed, it sounds like all of the tiers will continue to have ads in replies. Revenue from reply ads is used for paying content creators on the social network,” the report said.
At present, there is no word on what the new tiers might be priced at. There are also no other details on the differences between the plans or launch information.
Elon Musk is also planning to bring video game streaming and live shopping features on the X. In a video posted on Monday, Musk shared his successful test of the X video game streamer system.
“Tested the X video game streamer system last night. It works! Will try to complete a Tier 100 Nightmare dungeon tonight live on this platform,” Tesla CEO wrote on the social media platform. Musk also streamed his gameplay of the Nightmare dungeon in a nearly 40-minute-long video.
Recently, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino had confirmed that users will soon be able to make payments on X. The micro-blogging app also lets you share long videos, write longer tweets and subscribe to selected handles.
Yaccarino recently revealed that the company has paid nearly $20 million ( over Rs 166 crore) to creators so far. The social media platform started paying creators in July for a share of the ad revenue they earned from ads served in the replies to their posts to other verified users.
