'Danger of Epidemic': Delhi Minister Atishi Sounds Alert as Capital Stares at 'Severe Water Shortage'
Atishi alleged that on the request of the chief secretary, finance secretary Ashish Verma stopped all the funds of the Jal Board from August.

Delhi minister Atishi, who was allocated the Water Department in place of minister Saurabh Bharadwaj a few months ago, sounded an alert on Tuesday. She warned that Delhi may soon witness severe shortage of water. She added that there is a “danger of epidemic”.

Atishi alleged that on the request of the chief secretary, finance secretary Ashish Verma stopped all the funds of the Jal Board from August.

“Funds are not being released even after the written order of the finance minister. There’s no money even for salary and routine work,” the minister said, adding that all contractors have refused to work.

“There may be severe water shortage, dirty water and sewer overflow in many areas in the coming days,” Atishi warned.
