CAT 2023: Applicants who wish to apply for admission to postgraduate studies at IIM Kozhikode must review every aspect of admission guidelines before the exam

The admission policy for the MBA courses at the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has been revised for the academic year 2024-25. Significantly, for MBA admissions, the institution has assigned a final weightage of 35 per cent to the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2023 scores. Applicants who wish to apply for admission to postgraduate studies at IIM Kozhikode must review every aspect of admission guidelines before the exam.

The CAT 2023 is set to take place on November 26. IIM Kozhikode is expected to release a list of applicants shortlisted for stage 2 in the last week of January 2024, and the final merit list will be revealed in the second week of May 2024.

According to the amended policy, the final weightage granted for CAT tests is now 35 per cent, while gender diversity for PGP admissions will be 10 per cent and academic diversity will be 5 per cent. The admission policy that was in place up to the previous year stated that both gender and academic diversity factors together were worth 10 per cent of the overall weight when shortlisting applicants.

In terms of the diversity component, an applicant is entitled to just one of two suitable diversity scores, from either gender diversity or academic diversity, and not both, the admission policy stated.

For PG course admissions this year, IIM Kozhikode will implement a three-step selection procedure that consists of registration, shortlisting for the Writing Ability Test, and personal interviews.

IIM Kozhikode Admission: Final Score Computation

The CAT 2023 score as well as the students’ performance in the WAT and PI portions will determine the final selection.

IIM Kozhikode Admission Process

Stage 1

An email containing instructions for online registration will be sent to candidates who have selected IIM Kozhikode in their CAT 2023 application and meet the minimum eligibility requirements. For the second round of admissions, only these applicants will be taken into consideration. Applicants must have completed their degree programme with at least a 60 per cent aggregate to be eligible to apply.

Stage 2

The list of applicants under each reservation category will be created during stage 2 of admissions based on the Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is determined by the students’ CAT Exam results, their academic standing in classes 10 and 12, previous employment experience, and the diversity of their gender and academic background.

Stage 3

The written exam and interview are scheduled for the third round of admissions. The WAT and PI tests will be held at the institute, and a category-wise merit list will be published based on the results. Candidates will be admitted based on a merit-based system.
