The 1986 movie Nagina was produced and directed by Harmesh Malhotra, with the screenplay written by Ravi Kapoor and the story by Jagmohan Kapoor. According to reports, after the story was completed, director Harmesh Malhotra started searching for an actress to play the lead role of Ichchadhari Nagini He first offered the role to Jaya Prada. But as soon as she heard the story, she refused. So Harmesh reached out to Sridevi.

When Harmesh went to Sridevi’s house, she was very ill. So, he quickly narrated the story, and the actress agreed to play the role of Nagin at her mother’s request despite being very afraid of snakes.

Earlier in an interview, Sridevi said, “I have a lot of dreams. Most of these dreams were of ghosts and snakes, and I was very scared. People told me that seeing a snake in a dream means that you have many enemies.”

Sridevi agreed to play the role despite knowing that she would have to face snakes in several scenes in Nagina. Everyone was amazed to see her performance in this film. Her expression won millions of hearts.

Sridevi played the role of Rajni, a Nagin who marries a civilian to avenge the death of her spouse at the hands of an evil saint. It also featured Rishi Kapoor, Komal Mahuvakar, Amrish Puri, Sushma Seth and Prem Chopra. The movie was a huge success and also became the second-highest-grossing Indian film of 1986.
