Senior cricket journalist Ayaz Memon, in the ninth episode of Cricketnext Presents FREEHIT with Ayaz And Anand, says that India batting superstar Virat Kohli is back to his best and in some style.
“It’s been a spectacular career but the slump that he had for almost 2-3 years is astounding. I have seen big players going through a tough phase but I can’t really remember someone going through that kind of a phase for that long. And that’s why what makes his comeback equally amazing because he is back with a bang. He got that hundred in the Asia Cup and after that he seems to have got better and better,” said Ayaz.
The senior cricket journalist though added that Kohli’s red-ball form is still something which is a cause of concern.
“The only thing that has gone missing in the last few weeks is probably not getting runs in the red-ball cricket.”
Talking about allrounder Hardik Pandya and his captaincy, Ayaz said that the right-handed all-rounder has gained a lot of confidence after winning the title with Gujarat franchise.
“Hardik Pandya’s assessment about the game is very good. In the IPL also, he is dealing with players from all nationalities and still he has been able to get best out them. Also, winning the title in the first season with Gujarat franchise has boosted his confidence,” Ayaz added.
