Barbie fame Margot Robbie has publicly extended support to the SAG-AFTRA strike by joining a protest rally on Wednesday, September 13. The 33-year-old diva was spotted marching from the Netflix Studio to the Paramount Studio in West Hollywood alongside other protestors. Donning an oversized T-shirt with the phrase “SAG-AFTRA on strike” imprinted on it, Margot Robbie held up a protesting pluckard. With brown sunglasses, her casual look was completed with white spotless sneakers. Multiple photos and videos of the Hollywood actress joining the rally have gone viral across social media platforms.
In a series of photos, she smiled standing alongside fellow actress Samara Weaving, with whom she has shared the screen space in Babylon. Media reports suggest the duo also chanted slogans to display their support during the rally.

Even during the premiere of her latest superhit flick Barbie, Margot Robbie announced her clear stand favoring the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists Union. During an interaction with Sky News, the actress said, “I’m very much in support of all the unions. I’m a part of SAG so I would absolutely stand by that.”
What is the SAG-AFTRA strike?
The labour union of SAG-AFTRA represents thousands of people working in the showbiz industry, including writers, actors, radio artists, and other media professionals. They announced a protest on July 13 after weeks of failed negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) that represents major studios in the industry including Netflix, Sony, Warner Bros, Walt Disney, and Paramount. In the span of two months, many prominent Hollywood personalities have joined the ongoing protest. Notably, the members of the SAG-AFTRA union are demanding better working conditions and pay along with specialised contracts over the use of artificial intelligence. They’re seeking provisions for AI to be merely used as a tool to help support the creative and research process rather than being a replacement for employees.
