Choi Hyun-Wook Declined Offer To Star In New Drama By Director Lee Eung Bok?
Choi Hyun-Wook has turned down the opportunity to star in director Lee Eung Bok's upcoming series. Previously, there were speculations that he and Go Min Si might take on the lead roles in the series.

K-drama star Choi Hyun-Wook, well-known for his role in Twenty-five Twenty-one, has reportedly decided not to accept the opportunity to star in an upcoming drama helmed by director Lee Eung Bok. This decision is primarily attributed to scheduling conflicts. According to a statement from Choi Hyun-Wook’s agency, GOLDMEDALIST, they confirmed that he had been presented with the opportunity to play a leading role in the upcoming drama My Relationship That I Also Oppose (working title). However, they regretfully had to decline the offer due to a scheduling clash, as reported by Soompi.

Previously, there were discussions about both Choi Hyun-Wook and actress Go Min Si, known for her role in Youth Of May, potentially joining the cast of this drama series.

My Relationship That I Also Oppose is said to revolve around the theme of reconnecting with former partners and delves into the question of whether this represents the continuation of a familiar relationship or the inception of an entirely new one. The drama intends to captivate viewers by delving into the intricacies of reigniting past connections, according to reports from Soompi.

Choi Hyun-Wook was reportedly offered the role of Kim Tae Kyung, while Go Min Si was approached for the character of Hong Jae Bi.

Apart from his work, Choi Hyun-Wook was recently involved in a controversy related to the improper disposal of a cigarette butt. The former incident garnered more attention due to South Korea’s stringent anti-smoking laws and the need for proper disposal of cigarette waste. An online video reportedly captured him smoking while he was holding a woman’s hand and eventually discarding a cigarette butt on the ground in a designated no-smoking area.

In response, both Choi Hyun-Wook and his agency issued a formal apology statement. The actor was also fined for violating the Waste Management Act. After this, Choi Hyun-Wook’s agency issued an official statement saying, “After confirming the video footage, we looked up the fine procedures and have completed the fine payment. We apologise once again for causing concerns,” reports Soompi.

On the work front, Choi Hyun-Wook has captivated audiences with his performances in dramas like Taxi Driver, Racket Boys, Twenty-Five, Twenty-One, Weak Hero Class 1, and D.P. Season 2. Currently, he is the lead actor in TVN’s Monday-Tuesday drama Twinkling Watermelon.

Director Lee Eung Bok is renowned for directing hit dramas such as Descendants of the Sun, Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, Mr. Sunshine, Sweet Home, and Jirisan.
