Remembering Pankaj Udhas, Ajay Devgn said like many others he found comfort in the soothing voice and music of the singer.

Pankaj Udhas, the prolific ghazal and playback singer, left an indelible mark on Indian music enthusiasts with his vast repertoire of tracks. The renowned artist passed away at the age of 72 on February 26 after a prolonged illness. The news of his demise left fans in shock. Following his family’s confirmation of his passing, social media platforms have been flooded with condolences. Among them, Ajay Devgn shared a poignant tribute, reflecting on the late singer’s soothing voice and the void it leaves behind in the music industry.

During Devgn’s formative years in the film industry, the late singer had contributed his melodious voice to several of his movies, such as Ek Hi Raasta and Jigar, among others. Reflecting on the impact of Pankaj Udhas’s music, the actor took to social media to share his thoughts, revealing that like many others, he found solace in the soothing voice and music of the legendary singer. Sharing his sentiments on platform X, Ajay wrote, “I, like many, found solace in Pankaj Sir’s voice and music. He will be terribly missed.”

Apart from Ajay Devgn, other prominent personalities such as Manoj Bajpayee, Riteish Deshmukh, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Abhishek Bachchan, Arjun Rampal, Sunny Deol, Anupam Kher, Sonu Nigam, Anurag Thakur and others, too remembered Pankaj Udhas and offered support to his family.

The family confirmed the news. The official statement read, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.” The funeral will be held in Worli, Mumbai on February 27.

Pankaj Udhas, the youngest among three brothers, was born in Jetpur, Gujarat. While he gained fame for his soulful ghazals, Udhas also had a profound admiration for international music, particularly the legendary rock band The Beatles and the iconic American singer Whitney Houston. Throughout his illustrious career, he delivered numerous chart-topping hits, including the unforgettable Na Kajre Ki Dhar, Chandi Jaisa Rang, Jiye Toh Jiye Kaise, and Chupke Chupke Sakhiyon Se. His diverse musical influences and timeless melodies continue to resonate with audiences worldwide.
