The 71st Miss World pageant is scheduled to take place in India at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. This prestigious event will be held on March 9, 2024, where the current titleholder, Karolina Bielawska of Poland, will pass on her crown to her successor. India will host the competition post a 28-year hiatus. In February of last year, Julia Morley, the chairperson of the Miss World Organization, initially announced that the competition would be held in the United Arab Emirates. However, the decision was later changed, and the Jio World Convention Centre was selected as the new venue for the event.
Representing India at this prestigious contest this year is Sini Shetty, a Mumbai native with ancestral roots in Karnataka. As the excitement rings up around the much-awaited event, here are some facts about the Indian representative:
Sini Shetty’s roots
Sini was born and raised in Mumbai, Maharashtra, with ancestral ties to Karnataka. Her upbringing in Mumbai and her strong connection to Karnataka have shaped her identity, blending traditional values with modern aspirations. Sini’s family has been a pillar of support throughout her journey, nurturing her passion for dance she pursued from a young age.
Professional dancer
She is a trained dancer and completed her Arangetram in Bharatanatyam at the young age of fourteen. She has learned Bharatanatyam under the legendary classical dancer Radhakrishnan Padmini.

Sini’s academic journey led her to graduate from St. Dominic Savio Vidhyalaya in Mumbai and pursue a bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance. Currently, she is furthering her education in the professional program for Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA).
Inspiration
Sini is inspired by the words of actress Priyanka Chopra, who famously said, “Don’t try to squeeze into a glass slipper. Instead, shatter the glass ceiling,” she told Hindustan Times in an interview.
Beauty pageant journey
Sini’s journey to the Miss World stage began with her participation in Miss India 2022, where she represented Karnataka and won the title of Miss India Karnataka. Her success continued with accolades such as Miss Talent and Times Miss Body Beautiful during the Miss India 2022 sub-competitions, solidifying her position as a standout contestant.

Despite her rising fame and success in the beauty pageant world, Sini remains grounded and focused on giving back to society.
