It Ends With Us is adapted from Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel. It will be released on August 9.

The main and supporting cast of It Ends With Us gathered around for the film’s New York City premiere on Tuesday, August 6. Starring Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni and Brandon Sklenar in the lead roles, the film is based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel of the same name. Actor Justin Baldoni spoke about his upcoming film and revealed interesting details about his meeting with the author. Nodding to the fact that he wrote a letter to Colleen Hoover, Justin Baldoni shared how he was eventually chosen for the role.

“I feel like there was some divine guidance there. I don’t think it was the words, but the intention was that I wanted to make the movie and the kind of heart that I put into everything I do. And maybe that speaks more than words do. People can feel the intention, just like the difference between a grandmother’s food and the restaurant’s food. That’s the way we try to make movies, and I think Colleen just felt that,” the actor said.

During the conversation, Baldoni also opened up about collaborating with Blake Lively and called her a “creative force.” “Everything that she was involved in, every aspect of this production, she has actually made it better.

A Sequel In Plans For It Ends With Us?

Justin Baldoni also hinted towards a sequel for the novel adaptation. Referring to Colleen Hoover’s playful remark, the actor said, “She said that? I don’t have any ideas yet, but maybe you can come and pitch me some ideas.”

Directed by Baldoni himself, It Ends With Us tells the story of Lily Bloom (Lively), who falls in love with Ryle. However, her life takes an unexpected turn after she reconnects with her high school first love, Atlas (Brandon Sklenar). Stuck in a dilemma, Lily has to choose between staying with or leaving Ryle, who appears to be violent and volatile. “A chance meeting with charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) sparks an intense connection, but as the two falls deeply in love, Lily begins to see sides of Ryle that remind her of her parents’ relationship. When Lily’s first love, Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), suddenly reenters her life, her relationship with Ryle is upended, and Lily realizes she must learn to rely on her own strength to make an impossible choice for her future,” the official synopsis reads.

The film hits theatres on August 9, 2024.
