Last month, actor Thalapathy Vijay surprised his fans across the nation when he announced his plans to enter politics shortly, and revealed that he would be leaving the film industry after two films. Now, as per reports, Vijay’s 69th venture, and possibly last, will be under the direction of Atlee.
As the South acting sensation prepares for his political career, there is a lot of buzz surrounding his last film venture, tentatively called Thalapathy 69. If reports are to be believed, Atlee is said to be the director of Vijay’s last movie. Reports state further that the actor is going to be seen alongside Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the film, being made under the banner of Sun Pictures. Anirudh Ravichander is said to be the music director. Earlier, filmmakers like Vetrimaaran. Trivikram and H Vinoth were associated with Thalapathy 69. An official confirmation of the reports is awaited by the makers.
In February, the actor launched his political party called Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam and announced that he plans to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu polls. Vijay then confirmed that Thalapathy 69 is going to be his last film before he embarks on his political journey.
Currently, Thalapathy Vijay is busy shooting for his highly-anticipated 68th film titled GOAT (The Greatest Of All Time), a Venkat Prabhu directorial. The film also stars Prabhu Deva, Prashanth, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Parvati Nair and many others. It is being produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh, and Kalpathi S Suresh, under the banner of AGS Entertainment. The music composer is Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is under Siddhartha Nuni, and Venkat Raajen is doing the editing.
The actor was last seen in the film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Vijay played the titular role, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Trisha, Gautam Vasudev Menon, Mysskin and others. Produced under the banner of Seven Screen Studio, the film became one of the biggest Indian releases of 2023, collecting more than Rs 600 crore at the box office.
