Twinkle Khanna, the wife of actor Akshay Kumar and a renowned author, recently debunked rumors suggesting she performed a medley of songs for underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. In her latest column for a national daily, Khanna humorously likened her dancing abilities to a wrestling match, highlighting the absurdity of such claims.
Addressing the misinformation, Khanna shared her amusement at seeing her name in a television channel ticker, falsely implying her involvement in a performance for Dawood. She humorously remarked that even her children find her dancing skills more comparable to a chaotic wrestling match than a graceful performance one might expect for Dawood Ibrahim.
She shared, “I have even seen my name on a mainstream television channel ticker saying I had performed a medley of songs for Dawood. Considering that even my children think my dancing skills are akin to watching a WWF match between a lone wrestler and gravity, the news channels should have known that Dawood would have chosen more skilled performers. But such is the world of fake news.”
Khanna also touched on other fabricated news stories in her column, citing instances like manipulated images of the Phogat family and numerous false narratives surrounding the origin of the coronavirus pandemic, “We have already witnessed a spate of manipulated news stories, from the morphed pictures that showed the Phogats smiling during the wrestler’s protests, to uncountable stories about the origin of the coronavirus,” she added.
Known for her roles in movies such as ‘Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai’, ‘Baadshah’, ‘Joru Ka Ghulam’, and ‘Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega’, Khanna is outspoken about her views on current events and societal issues. She has expressed her reluctance towards dancing, particularly after witnessing Nita Ambani’s impressive performance at a pre-wedding event in Jamnagar, Gujarat, which left her feeling inadequate in comparison.
In one of her columns, Khanna candidly admitted her inability to dance like Nita Ambani, narrating a comical incident where her attempt at grooving to ‘Tamma Tamma’ during the pandemic ended with a fractured leg, joking that even God might have looked away at her uncoordinated footwork.
Twinkle Khanna has been happily married to Akshay Kumar since 2001, and together, they have two children, Aarav and Nitara. Khanna has playfully mentioned her preference for her children to ‘elope’ to avoid the hassle of hosting elaborate wedding parties in the future.
