The makers of the upcoming Malayalam film Porattu Nadakam released its trailer yesterday (October 13), a week before its release. It showcases the gist of the film’s plot and hints at a full-fledged family entertainer in theatres. Recently, it was reported that the film is all set to hit theatres on October 18. If the film hits theatres on that day, it faces competition from Bougainvillea, the much-awaited film by Amal Neerad.
The film portrays itself as a hilarious take on certain important social events, not just in Gopalapuram but across Kerala, as seen in the 2-minute and 29-second long video. The trailer gives a brief overview of the film’s plot and characters. Meanwhile, it hints at a satirical story.
A cow named Manikutty opens the trailer by giving a brief overview of all the main characters in the film. She reveals that the story revolves around a wedding and an unforeseen incident that causes humorous chaos in the town. Porattu Nadakam is based on a series of events that take place over 21 days in the village of Gopalapuram on the Kerala-Karnataka border. In the trailer, some of the characters seem to speak Kannada occasionally.
The film stars Saiju Kurup in the lead role. Directed by Naushad Saffron, Porattu Nadakam takes its name from a popular traditional art form from Palakkad. Other popular actors in this film include Dharmajan Bolgatty, Ramesh Pisharody, Rahul Madhav, Nirmal Palazhy and Arjun Vijayan.
The supporting cast includes Aiswarya Mithun, Jijina Radhakrishnan, Sooraj Thelakkad, Chithra Nair, Sunil Sukhada and Chitra Shenoy. The screenplay of this film is written by Suneesh Varanad. The film is bankrolled by Vijayan Pallikkara.
In July, the makers released a new song video, Balli Balli. The song, featuring Rahul Madhav’s character getting married, promises to get the entire nation grooving along.
Rahul Raj’s foot-tapping composition and lyrics, penned by Fouzia Abubacker, elevated the energy of the track. The song was crooned by Rahul Raj, Sanuja Pradeep, and Fiza Jahangeer. Meanwhile, Saiju Kurup’s last film Bharathanatyam is currently available to stream on Manorama Max and Amazon Prime Video.
