Actor Ajay Devgn, who started the year with the blockbuster Shaitaan, is currently struggling at the box office after delivering back-to-back flops. Shaitaan was a supernatural horror thriller film, was directed by Vikas Bahl. Apart from Ajay Devgn, Shaitaan starred R Madhavan, Jyothika and Janki Bodiwala in the lead roles. After this, Ajay Devgn was seen in the films Maidaan and Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. Both didn’t meet the expectations of the viewers. Shaitaan was released earlier this year in March. According to the IMDB report of IMDB, Shaitaan was made on a budget of 95 crore and grossed Rs 213.8 crore worldwide. After this, Ajay Devgn’s most awaited sports-drama film Maidaan was released in theatres on the occasion of Eid in April. The film received good reviews from critics, but it failed to create wonders at the box office in terms of earnings. Due to this, the makers had to suffer a huge loss. Maidaan was made on a reported budget of Rs 100 crore. It garnered Rs 71 crore worldwide and Rs 54 crore in India. The makers took years to make this film and suffered several delays in the release of the film. Maidaan disappointed the viewers with its slow screenplay and length.
Ajay Devgn’s next romantic drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha fared worse at the box office this year. It was written and directed by Neeraj Pandey. Apart from Ajay Devgn, the film starred Tabu, Jimmy Shergill, Shantanu Maheshwari and Saiee Manjrekar in the prominent roles. The makers spent a good budget on the making of Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. The film was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 100 crore. It could not survive even for two weeks in theatres. The film did a business of only Rs 15.4 crore worldwide.
Ajay Devgn is now in the headlines for his upcoming film Singham Again. In this, he will once again be seen in the role of police officer Bajirao Singham.
