Telugu film Pekamedalu had its nationwide theatrical debut on July 19, garnering positive reviews and acclaim by the critics. Now, as per the latest reports, the film had its USA release on July 26, yesterday. High-expectations are being associated with the film, which saw incredible success in its home country. Pekamedalu stars Vinoth Kishan and Anoosha Krishna as the protagonists, who portray a financially struggling couple. It proved to be a successful release in the Telugu speaking states, where it was released on July 19. As per reports, in the US, the film was released under the distribution of Nirvana Movies. The film revolves around the theme of women empowerment, while portraying how a woman suffers in a toxic marriage and her decision to walk away.
In the Telugu speaking states, the film was released with extremely low ticket price. The reports state that the price was set at Rs 100 (excluding the GST). According to the creators of the film, they want women to watch the film, and hence decided to keep it low priced. More information states that the film’s tickets were priced at Rs 50 for certain special screenings.
Talking to the media, Rakesh Varre – the producer of the Pekamedalu – shared his happiness for the project’s success and hoped it will continue its streak in the US. He stated, “I would like to express my gratitude to the audience who supported the film from day one and made it such a big success.” He added, “I hope that all the Telugu audiences in the USA will see this movie and make it a grand success.”
Pekamedalu is made under the direction of Nilgiri Mamilla, who is also credited as the writer. The cast of the film includes Vinoth Kishan, Anoosha Krishna, Ritika Srinivas, Jagan Yogi Raj, Ganesh Tipparaju and Naren Yadav. It is produced by Rakesh Varre under the banner of Crazy Ants Productions, while Smaran Sai has handled the music.
