Kannada cinema actor Komal Kumar is all set for his next film titled Yela Kunni directed by Pradeep NR. Komal Kumar Studios has unveiled the film’s teaser which shows Komal beating the goons in the attire of Lord Krishna. He also donned some other different makeovers for his new look in the teaser. The film stars the actors Sadhu Kokila, Manasi Sudhir, Suchendra Prasad, Raju Talikote and others in the ensemble star cast.

The teaser earned appreciation from some who lauded the makers for coming up with a different concept. Others, however, criticised the editing of the teaser and other aspects.

According to a Times Now report, Yela Kunni’s shooting started a year and a half ago with Mahesh Gowda as the producer of the film Sadagara fame. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the production team changed and Komal Kumar took over as the producer alongside Sahana Murthy. This project has been filmed in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Srirangapatna. This film includes scenes filmed on a specially constructed set in Srirangapatna. Notably, this marks the first time Komal will appear in a dual role.

Actresses Nisarga Appanna and Amrita known for the series Gitchigiligili star as the female lead opposite Komal Kumar. Additionally, late actor Vajramuni’s grandson, Akarsh, makes his debut in this film while Mayur Patel takes on the role of the villain.

Set entirely in a rural backdrop, Yela Kunni features music by Dharma Vish and cinematography by Bhadravati Halesh. The film carries the tagline ‘Mera Naam Vajramuni,’ probably a tribute to the late actor.

Besides Yela Kunni, Komal Kumar is also all set to make his debut in Tamil cinema. As per reports, he was in Rameshwaram in March 2024 for the shooting of his upcoming Tamil film. He shared a short video from the set, which dominated the news for a while.

In the video, he was spotted sitting under a tent in a chair. He was wearing a brown shirt and a black and white lungi. Komal was captured drinking some sort of juice or water from a palm leaf. A villager from the area was seen pouring the local drink of Rameshwaram into the leaf. Sharing the clip on Instagram, the actor wrote, “While shooting in Rameshwaram for the Tamil movie in scorching heat, the villagers gave me this, such a sweet and memorable gesture."
