Shah Rukh Khan has ruled Bollywood for over three decades, not just as a superstar actor but also as a savvy businessman. In a recent chat, Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki co-star Taapsee Pannu couldn’t stop gushing about his “charisma” and “intelligence,” sharing a surprising story. She revealed that SRK once convinced her to embrace the idea of paying people to say good things about her—something she was initially against. But when he told her to think of them as “billboards,” Taapsee had a change of heart. In a video that is going viral on Reddit, Taapsee talks about it.
Talking to ANI during a podcast, Taapsee spoke about her Dunki co-star and said, “I was telling the other day how I don’t really believe in buying out people to talk good about me or write good stuff only. I remember talking about this to him and he was like ‘there are billboards, right? And you pay for the billboards for your ads, for your display, when you want to show it to the audience? So people, who want to be paid for saying good, for you, they should be treated like billboards, they should be used as marketing tools’.”
Taapsee shared that Shah Rukh’s reasoning made her rethink her stance. She used to believe that publicity should be organic and was against paying people to say nice things about her. But Shah Rukh’s logic, seeing them as billboards, changed her perspective quickly, which she found impressive. “For a person who never believed in buying people, I was like whatever publicity happens should be organic. I can’t pay people to say good about me. Then I started thinking that they are billboards. He actually changed my point of view so quickly with his logic and reasoning, which only an extremely smart man can do,” she said.
