Sushmita Sen Says She Doesn't Give A 'Damn' About Settling Down: 'Freedom Is Very Important...'

Sushmita Sen has said that she has no intentions of getting married. During an interview with Film Companion, the actress shared her perspective on marriage. She is presently in a relationship with model-actor Rohman Shawl.

Speaking of marriage, Sushmita said, “I know the whole world thinks I should give a damn about, at this stage at least, settling down. I don’t give a damn about it. Important to mention it’s only because I love and respect the institution of marriage. I do, very much. And I have the blessing of knowing some incredible people, including my (Aarya) director (Ram Madhvani) and my producer (Amita Madhvani), who are one of the most beautiful couples I know. But I’m a big believer of companionship, dosti (friendship). And if that exists, things can happen. But that respect and dosti is very, very important. And freedom, very very important. So I give a damn about freedom.”

Sushmita was initially in a relationship with model Rohman Shawl, whom she connected with through Instagram in 2018, but ended the relationship in 2021. She shared on her Instagram handle, ‘We began as friends, we remain friends! The relationship was long over… the love remains.’ Following a short rumoured involvement with businessman Lalit Modi, Sushmita reignited her connection with Rohman, and they were spotted holding hands at various events.”

Recently, in a recent exclusive interview with News18 Showsha, Ram Madhvani recalled the time Sushmita had a heart attack. “I am grateful that she is okay. I am relieved and happy that she came back with such strength. In two weeks, she was walking some fashion ramp. Hats off to Sushmita that she came back with such strength and force. I was just happy that she was back and that she was there and that the show is here. It was a health scare. It could have happened to any one of us and I am very happy she is back with us, stronger than before,” he told us.

Meanwhile, Sushmita recently wowed audiences with her strong performance in Aarya Season 3 Part 1. In the show, she plays a tough woman who protects her family from crime. The first season was nominated for ‘Best Drama’ at the International Emmy Awards.
