While actor Salman Khan has ignored calls for an apology over his controversial comment on rape, a war rages on the social media between his critics and fans.
His critics pointed out that everything was wrong with the statement - many calling it "insensitive" and "reprehensible" - while his fans argued that he was misquoted. In fact even hashtags like #InsensitiveSalman and #SalmanMisquoted were trending on social media on Tuesday.
The actor who plays a wrestler in the upcoming flick 'Sultan' was quoted as telling an entertainment website during a film promotion interview that he felt like a 'raped woman' when he left the ring after the shoot. He said, "When I used to walk out of the ring, after the shoot, I used to feel like a raped woman. I couldn’t walk straight. I would eat and then, head right back to training. That couldn’t stop.”
And while everybody else was debating whether or not Khan was misquoted, and the otherwise outspoken Bollywood fraternity chose to remain silent on the issue, a renowned film critic Raja Sen decided not to watch and review Sultan.
NOT WATCHING SULTAN.Enough.— Raja Sen (@RajaSen) June 21, 2016
And then he got trolled.
@RajaSen Do you ever feel like you are at times taking yourself very seriously? I mean you just write how you felt about a film for rediff— Vivek Pulickal (@pulickalvivek) June 21, 2016
@rajasen ofcourse..one man can make a difderence..hahah...lol....you can do it...— Hasnain Nizami (@RockStarHasnain) June 22, 2016
@RajaSen aise bol raha saala jaise tere na dekhne se film Flop Ho Jayega.. Ja Betichod Randi ki Jawani Dekh.. Tere aukat Ka movie Hai— ARIJIT (@fanofthechamp) June 21, 2016
Raja then sportingly said this:
Not saying it'll make a difference at all. It'll open big. Also, filmmakers are often happiest when I *don't* review. But screw it, I'm out.— Raja Sen (@RajaSen) June 21, 2016
In fact, he also gave a clarification on why he decided to skip the film.
Thank you for all the swearwords (and the support) for my decision not to watch/review #Sultan. Here's why. pic.twitter.com/bR0qmWRwuc— Raja Sen (@RajaSen) June 22, 2016
But he got trolled again.

Some replies were so vulgar and offensive, we can't post them here.
While the jury is still out on whether Salman really meant what he said, his choice of words have clearly upset a large section of people. Including many of his followers.
