After the failure of Adipurush which was released last year, all eyes are now on Nitish Tiwari’s Ramayana. While Om Raut’s take on the Ramayana was severely criticised, fans are hopeful that Tiwari will do justice to the Hindu epic. If the star cast is any indication of how well a film will turn out, Tiwari’s Ramayana certainly lives up to the hype. Ranbir Kapoor has been cast as Lord Rama while Sai Pallavi has been roped in to play Goddess Sita. KGF star Yash and Sunny Deol are in talks to play Ravana and Lord Hanuman respectively.
It has also been reported that TV actor Ravi Dubey will be seen as Laxman in the movie, giving his big breakthrough in Bollywood. But another TV actor was this close to getting his big breakthrough in Bollywood through the epic movie. However, he missed the opportunity. We are talking of actor Aditya Deshmukh known for shows such as Maaya: Slave of Her Desires and the Marathi film Mee.
Aditya Deshmukh was approached by the makers to audition for the important role of King Dashratha, Lord Ram’s father in the movie. He even passed the audition and was offered the role. Reportedly, although he was keen on doing the film, his dates were fixed with the TV show Suhaagan.
In an interview with the Times Now, he said, “I was very excited to play the role of King Dasharatha in Ramayana. But I gave my dates for the serial Suhaagan. So I had no choice but to reject the movie”. Ironically, Aditya had creative differences with the team of Suhaagan and soon opted out of the show. The actor said that once he was out of Suhaagan, he got in contact with the makers of Ramayana and told them he could do the role now but the casting had already concluded by then.
He added that the makers promised they would consider him for their next project. “I regret rejecting the film. I had the opportunity to work with great artists,” he said. Meanwhile, the role of King Dashratha has reportedly landed with Arun Govil, who played Lord Rama in Ramanand Sagar’s serial Ramayana.
