Annu Kapoor recently reflected on his experience working with Priyanka Chopra in 7 Khoon Maaf during an interview with ANI. Back in 2011, rumours surfaced that Priyanka had refused to kiss him during the filming of an intimate scene. Addressing these rumours now, Annu Kapoor shared his perspective on the situation.
He revealed that during the filming of the scene, Priyanka had expressed discomfort, prompting director Vishal Bhardwaj to discuss it with Annu Kapoor. Annu Kapoor, understanding the situation, suggested that the scene be cut. Vishal Bhardwaj insisted that it was essential to the film, so Annu Kapoor continued and completed the scene, even receiving praise from the crew for his solo shot.
Reflecting on the rumours that followed, Annu Kapoor expressed that his appearance and not fitting the typical “hero” image might have been the cause of discomfort for Priyanka Chopra. He commented, “If I were the hero, Priyanka Chopra would not have had any problem kissing me. She does not have a problem kissing a hero. But I do not have a good-looking face. I don’t have a personality. That’s why there’s a problem. ”
Annu Kapoor had made a similar statement back in 2011 also when 7 Khoon Maaf released. In a 2011 interview with Hindustan Times, Priyanka said that she was very ‘irritated’ by Annu’s comments about the incident. “If he wants to do intimate scenes and pass such cheap comments, then he should do those kinds of films. Such scenes were never part of our film,” she said.
During the same interview with ANI, Annu Kapoor revealed that despite having an American wife, he never applied for an American passport. He said, ‘My wife is American, but I never applied for a Green Card or USA citizenship. I will not get a passport of a different country for the rest of my life.”
In Vishal Bhardwaj’s 7 Khoon Maaf, a dark comedy based on Ruskin Bond’s short story Susanne’s Seven Husbands, Priyanka Chopra delivers a striking performance as Susanna Anna-Marie Johannes, an Anglo-Indian woman on a tragic quest for love. Throughout the film, Susanna marries seven times, with each relationship ending in disturbing and often fatal consequences.
