Marana Mass Begins Filming: Tovino Thomas-produced Dark Humour Film Rolls In Kochi

Marana Mass, directed by debutant Sivaprasad and produced by the actor Tovino Thomas, reportedly started rolling on August 3 in Mattancherry, Kochi. The shooting of this film, billed to be dark humour genre, commenced at the offices of the tax department on Mattancherry Bazaar road. According to the reports, a scene featuring the actor Rajesh Madhavan and a few junior artists was first shot at the government office. Before making his debut in mainstream cinema with this film, Sivaprasad worked as an ad filmmaker and a crew member in many films. Besides Tovino Thomas, Tingston Thomas and Thanzeer Salam have produced this film under the banner of Tovino Thomas Productions along with Worldwide Films.

The launch ceremony of this film was held in July. The makers of Marana Mass preferred a simple launch ceremony rather than a gala event that the audience usually witnesses. A simple puja ceremony was usually held at a temple in Kochi on July 3, Wednesday. Producer Tovino Thomas was captured performing special rituals during the ceremony. All the crew members along with their family members attended the launching ceremony. The makers shared some glimpses of the ceremony on Instagram captioning it, “Switch-On | Pooja Ceremony Glimpses.” In the clip, several crew members were seen performing puja. The shooting of the film was initially set to start on July 20. However, as mentioned in the above clip, it started on August 3. The video of the launching event went viral soon after it was posted on Instagram garnering more than 1 million views.

The film features Basil Joseph, Siju Sunny, Rajesh Madhavan and Suresh Krishna in prominent roles. Jay Unnithan will compose the film’s music while Neeraj Revi is in charge of the film’s cinematography. Chaman Chakko is set to handle the editing department.
