Madras High Court Closes Case Against Actor Dhanush In Property Dispute

After the parties settled the matter, the Madras High Court disposed of a petition against actor Dhanush asking him not to disturb the peaceful possession of a property in Poes Garden, Chennai, which he had rented.

Justice CV Karthikeyan was hearing a petition filed by Ajay Kumar Lunawath and Heema Lunawath seeking an interim injunction against Dhanush to stop him. The parties submitted a memorandum of settlement to the court and sought an amicable settlement of the matter. Actor Dhanush appeared before the court through video conferencing and agreed to end the matter.

One of the respondents, Nalina Ramalakshmi, had rented out a house in Poes Garden to the petitioners. However, the petitioners alleged that on February 5, the actor had sent some of his helpers to their house and claimed ownership of the property for himself. Moreover, the actor’s helpers had switched off the electricity by removing the circuit breaker and threatened them to vacate the house immediately, the petitioners said.

Hence, they filed the petition to restrain Dhanush from interfering with the possession of the property. While the case was pending in the court, the petitioners vacated the property and the matter was settled amicably between the parties.

On the professional front, Dhanush is working on his second directorial project Raayan. It was originally scheduled to be released on June 13. It has now been postponed. On June 10, Dhanush announced the new release date of Raayan with new posters in different languages. Raayan will be released on July 26 in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

The new release date of Raayan comes two days before Dhanush’s 41st birthday.

Sharing the poster on his X account (formerly Twitter), Dhanush wrote, “#Raayan from 26th July”. In the poster, Dhanush looks intense and a painting of Kali is seen behind him.
