Bengaluru: When Baahubali released everyone had one question, why did Katappa kill Baahubali? Now as Baahubali: The Conclusion is set to release, the brain behind the epic movie, SS Rajamouli is left with one question. Why are Kannadigas banning Baahubali: The Conclusion in Karnataka?

A protest by Pro Kannada group Karnataka Rakshana Vedike was held on Thursday in the city against Tamil Actor Sathyaraj for his comments made years ago on Kannadigas and Cauvery River.

The protesters marched to the Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce and gave a written request to the Film Chamber President asking him to call a meeting of all stakeholders and instructing them not to release Baahubali: The Conclusion on April 28.

A garland of chappals was put around the life size banner of actor Sathyaraj and an effigy was burnt by the protesters. Speaking to News18.com, Shivramegowda, President, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike said, “Unless Actor Sathyaraj apologises the movie won’t release here in the state. We have called for a Bandh on the release date. If the theatre owners release the movie, we will intensify our protests.”

The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has decided to fully stand by the protesters and will make sure the release will be blocked. Earlier, the producers of the movie met the Film Chamber authorities, but the talk dint result in any solution. The Chamber wanted nothing less than any apology from Sathyaraj.

Meanwhile, director SS Rajamouli has released a video urging Kannadigas not to ban the movie. In the video he says the comments made by Actor Sathyaraj were made 9 years back and was made in his individual capacity. The movie will suffer huge loss if the release in blocked.

As per reports, all the money which came out of the first movie was invested in the making of the second. Thus the production house has still not taken the monetary benefits of the movie. Just in Karnataka, the Baahubali: The Conclusion movie distribution rights was set to be sold at Rs 50 crore.

However, protesters feel that money at stake doesn’t matter to them. “The self-esteem of Kannadigas cannot be compromised just because Bahubali-2 team has invested crores of money in the making.” added Shivramegowda.
