Joker 2 Trailer To Be Out On This Date, Reveals Director Todd Phillips
To tide fans over, Todd Phillips shared new images from the film on Valentine’s Day, showcasing Phoenix’s Joker and Gaga’s Harley Quinn characters.

The highly anticipated sequel to Todd Phillips’ Joker will most probably hit theatres this year, and fans are eagerly awaiting their first glimpse of the film. Titled Joker: Folie à Deux, the movie features Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the iconic Batman villain, with the addition of Lady Gaga to the cast adding to the excitement.

While fans were hoping for a trailer soon, Phillips recently confirmed that they’ll have to wait a bit longer. Responding to queries on social media, Phillips stated that the first teaser for Joker: Folie à Deux won’t be released until mid-April, with the movie itself scheduled for an October release.

To tide fans over, Phillips shared new images from the film on Valentine’s Day, showcasing Phoenix’s Joker and Gaga’s character, Harley Quinn. The images hint at a complex and possibly romantic relationship between the two characters.

With the caption, “Hoping your day is full of love,” one of the images shows Phoenix’s Joker in his traditional burgundy suit and clown makeup standing next to Gaga’s Harley Quinn, dressed in a floral top with bold blue eye makeup. Another black-and-white photo depicts the two characters rubbing noses, with Phoenix’s character seemingly in a jail cell. The third image is a wider black-and-white shot of the duo dancing on a Gotham City rooftop, with Phoenix in a black tuxedo and Gaga in a long white wedding gown.

The Joker sequel’s title, Folie à Deux, refers to a psychiatric term describing a condition where two or more individuals share a delusion. While fans anticipate a psychological thriller from Todd Phillips, there are hints that the film will also explore a musical love story between Arthur Fleck and Dr. Harleen Quinzel.

In the sequel, Lady Gaga’s Dr. Quinzel is tasked with treating Fleck, but her professional curiosity for his nihilistic personality gradually transforms into an unhealthy obsession. Mental health and disorders remain prominent themes in the sequel, although the first film faced criticism for its handling of these topics.

Lady Gaga’s casting as Harley Quinn marks another interpretation of the popular DC Comics character, following Margot Robbie’s portrayal in three previous films. Robbie expressed joy to ComicBook at passing the torch to Gaga, likening the role to iconic characters like Batman or Macbeth, which are often played by different actors over time. Robbie sees this as an opportunity for Harley Quinn to join the ranks of these timeless characters.

Brendon Gleeson, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland are also part of the cast for the upcoming Joker sequel.
