Japanese Anime One Piece To Go On Hiatus Till 2025, Here's What Happened
The popular Japanese anime will return to the screens in April 2025.

In disappointing news for One Piece fans, the beloved anime has announced a six-month hiatus ahead of its 25th anniversary this month. The series will celebrate its milestone anniversary on October 20 in Japan, marking a transition into the new era of the Final Saga from Eiichiro Oda’s original manga. However, ahead of this celebration, the anime will take a break to prepare for its return, which is scheduled for April 2025, as stated in an official announcement.

“Heads up, One Piece watchers! New episodes of Egghead Arc are taking a break and will return in April 2025. Beginning October 26, a special version of the Straw Hats journey to Fish-Man Island will air, titled One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga!” the post read.

During a special live stream, Chief Producer Ryuta Koike also shared that the anime will return in a new time slot starting in April 2025, describing it as a “charging period,” which will allow the team to gear up for the next phase of the Egghead Arc and beyond, states ComicBook.

Koike explained that the break will provide the team with time to enhance the series. Considering how Oda’s manga continues to grow more thrilling, the anime team will aim to make their adaptation even more impactful when new episodes air next April. Details about the new schedule are expected to be revealed during Jump Festa 2025 in December this year, he added.

Further, the live stream also hinted at improvements in the anime’s cinematic quality, particularly for major scenes.

What Can Viewers Expect?

During the break, fans will still have the option to watch One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga, a remade version of the original Fish-Man Island arc. This updated series will feature enhanced visuals, sound effects, and new content, bringing the original 58 episodes down to 21. It will conclude when the anime is ready to resume its full run. Also, a new episode, One Piece Fan Letter will air next Sunday.

In the meantime, the upcoming Egghead Arc promises to bring Luffy and the Straw Hats back to Dr. Vegapunk’s island, where they are trying to escape while the Navy closes in and searches for the missing Dr. Vegapunk. It seems like there’s plenty for fans to look forward to next April.
