ICYMI: Ariana Grande's Unforgettable Closing Act At 2024 Met Gala
Honouring the 2024 Met Gala's theme, Ariana Grande kicked off her set with a rendition of Once Upon A Dream from Disney’s classic Sleeping Beauty.

Ariana Grande delivered a breathtaking performance to conclude the Met Gala 2024, accompanied by her Wicked co-star Cynthia Erivo for an unforgettable finale. For this special moment, the singer swapped her red carpet Loewe attire for a Maison Margiela Artisanal creation by John Galliano.

Ariana Grande’s enchanting outfit featured a simple bodysuit underneath layers of soft, green fabric adorned with exquisite gold details and embroidery, creating a truly magical look. In line with the Gala’s theme, Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion, she began her set with a rendition of Once Upon A Dream from Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. The singer then delighted the crowd with some of her biggest hits, including Into You from Dangerous Woman and Seven Rings from Thank U, Next, as well as songs from her latest album, Eternal Sunshine.

Directed by Michael Arden, Ariana Grande’s performance featured 30 dancers and members of the Broadway Inspirational Voices choir. For the final act, the singer brought Erivo onstage for a special duet, who looked dazzling in a stunning red and white dress with large rose designs from Thom Browne’s Fall 2013 collection. Together, they performed a thrilling version of When You Believe from The Prince of Egypt. This iconic song was originally sung by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey. Although Grande’s performance left the audience excited, however, it’s doubtful that the Gala will release a complete video of her performance.

Before her energetic surprise performance, Ariana Grande looked dreamy at the Met Gala steps as she wore a white Loewe dress by John Galliano. Talking about her dress, the singer told Vogue, “This is actual mother of pearl made by Loewe. Jonathan Anderson’s vision for this was to have me in mother of pearl, which, coincidentally, is my birth stone. I loved the tie in of the opal essence of the little hues of pink and green, of course, for Glinda’s bubble and for Wicked.”

Ariana Grande is poised to star alongside Cynthia Erivo in Wicked: Part One. In this highly anticipated film, Erivo will portray the green-skinned witch Elphaba, who later becomes known as the Wicked Witch of the West, while Grande takes on the role of Galinda Upton, also known as Glinda the Good, from L. Frank Baum’s book series and the iconic Wizard of Oz film. The first installment of this two-part film is scheduled to hit theatres on November 27.
