Hema Malini Presents Janmashtami Special Act At Mathura Event

IVeteran actress Hema Malini is an accomplished dancer, who is well versed in the traditional art of Bharatnatyam. She still performs on stage and manages to mesmerise the audience and her fans. Her Bharatnatyam skills were on display once again in the holy city of Mathura, where she recently performed a Janmashtami special event. She played the role of Yashoda, the mother of Lord Krishna. It was a development event, where Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated a new Sanskrit program and laid the foundation stone for various schemes at the Panchajanya Auditorium in Mathura. At the event, Hema Malini, who is also a BJP MP, performed and added a cultural flair to the occasion. The evening’s highlight was the inauguration of Panchajanya Rangmanch, a newly-established theatre named to reflect its meaningful heritage.

The name ‘Panchajanya’ is rich in historical and cultural importance. Hema Malini elaborated on the significance while speaking at the event, noting, “Panchajanya is a name with profound purity … Many people might not be familiar with this term.” She further explained, “Lord Krishna was given this name after he defeated Shankasur. We chose the name ‘Panchajanya’ for this theatre because we hope the music that resonates here will bring blessings to the entire nation.”

Hema Malini has been adept at Bharatanatyam since childhood. She has done many Bharatanatyam programs not only in the country but also abroad. She also taught Bharatnatyam to both her daughters Esha and Ahana. Both are also often seen performing Bharatanatyam alongside their mother. Hema Malini, an actress who transitioned into politics and received the Padma Shri award, is renowned for her significant impact on Bollywood with classic films like Dream Girl, Sholay, Sapno Ka Saudagar, Seeta Aur Geeta, and Satte Pe Satta.
