The Fantastic Four is one of the next movies in the MCU lineup. Directed by Matt Shakman, it is scheduled to hit theatres on July 25, 2025.

The cast of the upcoming film The Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally made their public appearance together. They were spotted at the Marvel Studios’ Comic-Con 2024 panel, held on Saturday night in San Diego. The cast members present at the occasion included Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Matt Shakman, the director of the film was there too. Apart from spilling some beans regarding what goes behind the scenes of the MCU’s film shoot, they also teased that, just like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will also skip the character’s origin story in this film.

Director Matt Shakman and the team are diving straight into a new Fantastic Four story instead of retelling their space voyage and the subsequent acquisition of their powers, reports Entertainment Weekly.

“One of the things we decided early on was not to do an origin story,” Shakman said. “One of the ways we’re making it our own thing is we’re not telling the story of them going up and being changed, and starting our story there. There’s a lot of well-known narrative that leads into that moment, right? And then you’re making up your new story starting basically at the end of the first act, and we thought, ‘Well, let’s just start this thing off on a completely new foot.’ So we are beginning after that,” Shakman told Entertainment Weekly.

The Fantastic Four is one of the next movies in the MCU lineup. Directed by WandaVision’s Matt Shakman, it’s scheduled to hit theatres on July 25, 2025.

This film has an all-new cast of Marvel’s First Family. Pedro Pascal is cast as Reed Richards. Vanessa Kirby and Joseph Quinn will portray siblings Sue and Johnny Storm, while Ebon Moss-Bachrach will take on the role of Ben Grimm, The Thing. The cast also includes Ralph Ineson as the iconic villain Galactus and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal, a version of the Silver Surfer.

Fans are also expecting that actor Robert Downey Jr. might join the cast of Fantastic Four: First Steps. Taking the audiences by surprise, the Marvel Studio during its SDCC event revealed that Downey is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom, after a decade of leading the franchise as Tony Stark.

Downey’s Doom will appear in the upcoming films Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, which will also feature the Fantastic Four.
