Drake has once again created Spotify history. On Tuesday, June 18, the Canadian rapper, singer and actor achieved a milestone by becoming the first artist in the music industry to gain 100 billion streams on Spotify. The achievement is across all his credits, including as a lead artist and a featured artist. Some of his songs that have made it to the top streams are One Dance (3.1 billion streams), God’s Plan (2.5 billion streams), Passion Fruit (1.6 billion streams), Work (1.4 billion streams) and In My Feelings (1.3 billion streams).
The feat came just two months after Drake was said to be closing in on the milestone of 97 billion streams. With a massive figure of 78,140,542 monthly listeners, the rapper-singer amassed the feat shortly after his highly publicised feud with Kendrick Lamar. According to the Chart Data, his 100 billion streams on Spotify include an average of 234 million streams per song and an average of 5 billion streams per album.

In the meantime, as soon as the news surfaced, his fans instantly took to social media and celebrated the moment. Some even argued that he won the feud against K-dot, asking Lamar to “catch up.” A fan wrote, “King, you’ve done it again. Raising the bar for us all. So effortlessly, so cleanly,” while another commented, “The biggest hip hop artist ever, no other hip hop artist can recreate this anytime soon.”
“Kendrick can never achieve this even in the next 10 years,” another one chimed.
While Drake now holds the top spot, Taylor Swift is behind with 84.4 billion streams.
On the work front, the One Dance singer recently released a series of singles, including his Kendrick Lamar diss tracks like Push Ups, Taylor Made Freestyle, Family Matters, and The Heart Part 6, followed by his recent collaboration on Sexxy Red’s single, U My Everything. As for Drake’s beef with Kendrick Lamar, it began when the latter took aim with his verse on Future and Metro Boomin’s Like That. In the following weeks, the two didn’t hesitate to fire several diss tracks at each other. While Drake’s Family Matters alone notched over 75 million streams, Lamar also created waves with Meet The Grahams and Not Like Us.
