Deepika Padukone, who is expecting her first child with Ranveer Singh, is not planning to resume work anytime soon. If a recent report by Times Now is to be believed, Deepika wants to be a “hands-on” mother and therefore has rejected the third season of The White Lotus. Reportedly, the actress is planning to focus her time on her impending motherhood and is therefore not signing any new project.
“Deepika loves children. She bonds with them instinctively. You can be sure there will be no nannys or nanas to look after her child when it is born…I don’t think Deepika would ever let Ranveer share in parental chores. She will be a 100% hands-on mother,” a source cited by the news portal claimed.
“That is so savage. I don’t think Deepika knows about it. Ever since she got pregnant, Ranveer has been protecting her from all toxicity on social media. Deepika is entirely focused on her impacting motherhood. She has not signed any new film. She said no to a very prestigious international series. I don’t think she will be back to work anytime soon,” the insider added.
Deepika Padukone announced her pregnancy in February 2024. However, on May 20, the actress was brutally trolled when she stepped out to cast her vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024. A section of social media users made nasty comments on her baby bump and went on to call it “fake”. Later, Ranveer Singh shut down trolls and wrote on his Instagram stories, “Buri nazar wale tera moonh kala” along with an evil-eye emoji.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Deepika Padukone was recently seen in Kalki 2898 AD in which she played the role of a pregnant woman. Previously, director Nag Ashwin lauded Deepika’s natural instinct for her character in ‘Kalki,’ stating, “She is the most important part of the story. We had a lot of discussions on it when we were writing as well. I think the simplest answer that we arrived at was whose character do you remove and the story does not exist? And that became Deepika’s character. Because if you remove her character, there is no story. There is no Kalki.”
