Marvel Studios is gearing up for the release of Deadpool & Wolverine. The film will reunite the chaotic duo of Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth and Hugh Jackman’s Logan, sending them on a mission into the multiverse. In a wild twist, Kevin Feige not only managed to bring Logan, aka Wolverine, back to screen but also got him an even more comic-accurate suit. During the film’s China leg of promotions, director Shawn Levy and actors Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman spilled major beans about Deadpool 3’s development.
Recalling the time when they pitched the film’s crossover idea to Feige, Levy said that the Marvel Studios’ boss wanted the “yellow suit.”
“Yes, but he wears yellow. Can he finally wear the yellow?” Feige emphasised while mentioning his only single condition. Levy also shared how Feige began his Marvel career as an associate producer with Bryan Singer’s original X-Men and thus had to fulfill his 24-year-old dream with Deadpool & Wolverine.
Ryan Reynolds Reveals The Idea Of Bringing Wolverine
Delving more into the details, the Deadpool star spoke about his early interactions with Feige. “The first thing I said to him was, ‘I just want to make Wolverine and Deadpool together. I just want these two together on screen.’ At the time, Kevin said, ‘Forget it. It’s never going to happen.’ And I said, ‘Okay, that’s fine,'” he said. Further recounting when they had the last pitch and were about to “walk away,” Reynolds shared how Hugh Jackman’s confirmation call turned the tables.
Speaking about Wolverine’s return, the character originally died in the 2017 film Logan, with no hopes of his revival. However, the MCU actually made that happen, and the adamantium-clawed Wolverine is back to ring into a new era for Marvel’s mutants. This is also the first time that James Logan Howlett’s Wolverine will get a comic-accurate suit. In the latest promos and posters, he can be seen donning the iconic yellow-and-blue costume.
Deadpool and Wolverine Film Teases X-Men Cameos
Along with Reynolds and Jackman, the third Deadpool instalment is expected to have a lot of interesting cameos, including those by Sabretooth, Hulk, Pyro, Juggernaut, and Lady Deathstrike. Possible details may only come after the film’s release.
Deadpool & Wolverine releases on July 26.
