‘Blessed’: Choreographer Ashish Patil On Working With Sanjay Leela Bhansali In Heeramandi

Sanjay Leela Bhansali will step into the OTT world with his upcoming periodic drama, Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar. Although the release date of the Netflix series is yet to be announced, Heeramandi’s first-look teaser has created much buzz amongst the masses. The series includes a cast ensemble of Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari and Richa Chadha. Besides the opulent sets and grand storytelling, Bhansali’s works boast impressive music and dance sequences. For Heeramandi, the director has chosen Ashish Patil as the choreographer. Elated at the opportunity, the artist shared his joy of working with his “dream director” in his latest Instagram post.

“YES, manifestation works. Blessed to announce as Choreographer with my Dream Director SLB, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Sir. 2024 let’s kill it with grace and beauty. Somebody pinch me. And to all my loved ones who blessed me unconditionally, bappa morya,” captioned Ashish Patil. Along with the notes, Patil also dropped the first-look teaser of Heeramandi: The Diamond Baazar.

Soon after he made the announcement, social media users congratulated Ashish Patil for getting the chance to work on such a grand web series. “This is huge. Many many congratulations. Waiting,” commented one excited user. “This is amazing can’t wait to see,” quipped another. “That’s a very big achievement,” noted a third individual. Others went all hearts in the comment, extending their best wishes to the choreographer.

Ashish Patil is a prominent face in the Indian film industry, having worked in many Marathi-language and Hindi films. He choreographed the popular track Chandra from the 2022 musical romance Chandramukhi. Sung by Shreya Ghoshal, the song was an instant hit among movie enthusiasts. Actress Amruta Khanvilkar ,who slipped into the shoes of Chandramukhi, performed the dance sequence on the song under the guidance of Patil. His deft choreography was widely appreciated, taking him to overnight fame.

Earlier, in an interaction with News18 Lokmat, Ashish Patil hinted at working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali but without giving away the director’s name. “Many things are going to happen this year. I got the opportunity to work with the director I wanted to work with. Soon I will tell you about it,” he said. He bagged the Best Choreography award for the song Bai Ga from Chandramukhi.
