Ananya Panday Says She 'Burned' Her Ex's Pic After Breakup: 'It's Nice Way to Release Frustration'
Ananya Panday opened up about burning her ex’s photos to cope with heartbreak, calling it a nice way to release frustration, though she now deals with things more maturely.

Ananya Panday, currently promoting her latest film CTRL directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, has candidly spoken about her past experiences with heartbreak. In a recent interview with Galatta India, the actor revealed that after a breakup, she once burned photographs of her ex-boyfriend to help deal with her emotions.

When asked how she copes with breakups, Ananya replied, “Just deal with it. Nothing is permanent. You will figure it out. It will get better, and knowing that is good enough.” However, she went on to admit that her younger self had taken more dramatic measures. “I don’t do that now, but I have done it. It’s not like I’m the only person on earth who has done this. A lot of people have. It’s a nice way to release your frustration.”

Her CTRL director Vikramaditya Motwane, who was part of the interview, chimed in with his own thoughts on heartbreak, saying that it’s essential to face the emotions head-on. When he mentioned the idea of burning photographs, he subtly pointed at Ananya.

Inspired by Geet from Jab We Met

Ananya went on to share that she identifies with Geet, Kareena Kapoor’s character from Jab We Met. Known for her quirky and dramatic ways of dealing with breakups, Geet famously burned her ex’s photographs in the film, which Ananya said she could relate to at the time. However, she also noted that she has since matured and no longer resorts to such actions.

Rumoured Relationship with Aditya Roy Kapur

Ananya Panday has been linked romantically to actor Aditya Roy Kapur, with rumours suggesting the two were together since 2022. However, reports surfaced earlier this year that the couple had parted ways in May 2024. Despite the breakup rumours, Ananya continues to focus on her career and personal growth.

In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Ananya also discussed dealing with imposter syndrome, revealing her struggles with self-validation, especially when on film sets. “I constantly need validation because I’m very hard on myself,” she admitted, reflecting on how this mentality pushes her to improve continuously.
