Amitabh Bachchan Praises Granddaughter Navya Nanda For Her Women’s Welfare Initiatives: 'From Her Own Earnings...'
Amitabh Bachchan proudly highlighted his granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda's impactful work in women’s welfare, showering her with praise for her dedication and efforts.

Amitabh Bachchan returns to captivate audiences with the 16th season of the iconic quiz show, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’. As a seasoned host, the legendary actor continues to enchant viewers with fascinating stories from his life and career. This season, he shared a touching moment on the show involving his granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda.

In a recent episode, contestant Nareshi Meena took the hot seat, revealing her dream of becoming an Investigation Officer. However, her aspirations were challenged when she was diagnosed with a brain tumor during medical examinations. Despite this setback, her determination remained unshaken.

Moved by Nareshi’s story, Amitabh Bachchan announced that he would cover the costs of her Proton treatment, commending her strength and bravery. He empathized with her situation, acknowledging the courage it took to share her struggle publicly, and encouraged her to focus on her recovery rather than worrying about the prize money.

He remarked, “Badi himmat honi chahiye ek mahila mein. Ek toh sarvajanik roop se yeh baat kehna, iske liye bohot himmat ki zarurat hoti hai. Aur khaas toh jis tarah ki avastha hal uske baare mein baat karna hi mushkil hota hai. Kahin na kahin aapne apne mann ke andar yeh rakh rakha hai, yeh thaan ki main aaj KBC main aayi hoon aur main dhanrashi jeet kar jaungi aur iska ilaaj ho sakta hai. Aapke dhairya ke liye hum aapko dhanyawaad karte hai. Lekin iss or jo aapka dhyaan hai, ab woh apne dimag se hata lijiye aur jo aapka chhipa hua tumour hai, woh bhi nikal jayega(It takes immense courage for a woman to speak openly about such matters. You’ve held onto the hope that winning on KBC could fund your treatment. Your resilience is admirable, but let go of those worries—your hidden tumor will be taken care of too).”

The conversation then shifted to Nareshi’s work, where she supports women facing domestic violence. She highlighted various schemes by the Rajasthan Government aimed at empowering women through shelter, education, and easy loans for business ventures. This prompted Amitabh Bachchan to mention his granddaughter, Navya Naveli Nanda, who shares a similar passion for women’s welfare.

A proud grandfather, Amitabh revealed that Navya has been independently funding and leading initiatives to support women, recently establishing an NGO that provides housing and essential services to women in need. Unlike her famous lineage, Navya has chosen a path away from the spotlight of acting, much like her mother, Shweta Bachchan Nanda, “My granddaughter ( Navya Naveli) does this individually from her own earnings. She isn’t working for the Government but has been taking up these initiatives on her own. Recently, she set up an NGO with her own funds, the organization makes homes for women and gives all the facilities and everything that the women need.”

A Fordham University graduate, Navya is also the co-founder of Aara Health, a healthcare platform dedicated to improving women’s health and hygiene in rural areas. Additionally, she hosts the popular podcast, ‘What The Hell Navya’, which has completed two successful seasons. While she is often admired for her beauty, Navya’s true impact lies in her commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
