Alia Bhatt recently began shoot for the highly anticipated spy entertainer Alpha. The film also stars Sharvari Wagh in the lead role alongside her. Earlier yesterday, the former’s first photo from the sets went viral. Now, we learn that, before shooting the actress has undergone intensive training for the film.
A source close to Hindustan Times shared that, “Alia has started shooting for Alpha on July 5th. The film presents her in a never-seen-before avatar. She has trained for about four months to prepare herself to play a super agent. She has five to six major action sequences in the film and she needs to be at her fittest best. Alia has pushed her body to a breaking point because she has to look ruthless on screen.”
Billed as the first female-led YRF Spy Universe film, Alia plays a super-agent in Alpha. It is being directed by Shiv Rawail, who has previously helmed YRF’s globally hit and unanimously acclaimed Netflix series The Railway Men inspired by the events of the tragic Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Earlier last week, the actress took to her Instagram handle and dropped a video in which she announced that the shooting for the much-awaited movie has finally begun.
The clip showed ‘Alpha’ written on it as Alia’s voiceover said, “Greek alphabet ka sabse pehle akshar aur hamare program ka motto. Sabse pehle, sabse tez, sabse veer. Dhyaan se dekho toh har shahar mein ek jungle hai aur har jungle mein raaj karega ek Alpha (The first alphabet of the Greek language and our motto – first, fastest and courageous. If you see, every city is a jungle and every jungle is ruled by an Alpha)”. Watch the video here:
Needless to say, Alia Bhatt’s announcement video has left netizens super excited for the film. Soon after the post was shared, fans rushed to the comments section expressing that they could not wait for the film’s release. “You go girlsss✨,” one of the fans wrote. “Aaagh! Screaming my aloo,” added another. “Alreadyyy so exciteddd!!!!!” a third comment read.
Alia Bhatt’s standalone YRF Spy Universe film was confirmed earlier this year when Yash Raj Films’ CEO Akshaye Widhani said, “As one of the most prized IPs, we take a lot of pride in it. So there’s a lot of stuff that’s going to come in the spy universe. We’re going to see more and more films getting made under it. But, of course, not going to share everything here. We will talk about it at a more opportune time. For now, I can say that Alia Bhatt is headlining a spy universe film.”
Later, it was also confirmed that besides Alia, Sharvari Wagh will also be playing a key role in the movie.
Over the years, YRF has established its Spy Universe in the film industry. Before Alia and Sharvari, Katrina Kaif and Deepika Padukone have also been a part of YRF Spy Universe films. While Katrina played an ISI agent Zoya in the popular Tiger franchise, Deepika essayed the role of an ISI spy Rubina in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Pathaan. Kiara Advani also joined Spy Universe recently. She will be seen in Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR-led War 2.
