Actor Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan will reunite for an untitled project after 14 years of the release of their last film – Khatta Meetha. As per the filmmaker, this will be a horror fantasy film with elements of humour. Now, the director is looking to rope in an actress to play the leading lady in this project. According to an article published in the Mid Day portal, Alia Bhatt, Kiara Advani and Keerthy Suresh are the top contenders for this position. Till now, no confirmation has been made yet regarding the female lead in this untitled film directed by Priyadarshan. As per the reports, the makers have approached all three actresses to act alongside Akshay. One of these three will be selected based on their response to the script, dates and fees. As per the reports, Alia has emerged as a strong contender for the role among the three actresses. Reportedly, Akshay and Priyadarshan are impressed by Bhatt’s diverse body of work. Alia’s adeptness at handling varied roles contemplated her suitability for the part.
On the work front, Akshay has been facing a string of flops with the recent one being Bade Miyan Chote Miyan directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. This film starred an ensemble cast of actors Sonakshi Sinha, Alaya F, Tiger Shroff and others. As per the viewers, nothing including the action sequences could manage to impress the audience. The viewers opined that the only entertaining factor in this film was the acting prowess of Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Akshay has talked about this phase of facing consecutive flops at the trailer launch event of the film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. He said, “It is not that I have not seen (this phase before), there was a time when I had 16 consecutive flops in my career. But I stood there and kept on doing work and I’ll still do that. It is one film this year for which we all have done lots of hard work and now, we will see the results. We hope this is going to bring good luck to all of us.”
