Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in 2001. Akshay and Twinkle have been married for 23 years now. The couple shares two kids, a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara. However, the two have very different ideologies and barely have commonalities between them.
In a recent interview with Galatta India, Akshay said, “Me and my wife are very different. We are poles apart. She thinks left, I think right. The only thing which is common in us is that we both like to sleep early and wake up early. Another thing which we like is playing Rummy or Ludo. Nothing else is common in us. But, it’s not just about that. Respect is the most important thing. It is important to give each other space. There are 36 traits in people, not necessarily they all have to be common in a couple. But if you have that one trait of respecting each other, I think it’s equivalent to having all the traits you need in a relationship.”
Akshay added that while he is more reserved about what he says to people, Twinkle is the opposite. He said, “I believe people should keep quiet. They should not comment on everything. Words can harm you a lot. A word can hurt you harder than a punch. Tongue can destroy relationships. It can create wars. You need to be very careful of what you speak. People call me diplomatic, well, be it so. I am diplomatic because I measure my words before saying it to anyone. I don’t want to hurt anybody.”
He added, “Even though I know a lot about you, I wouldn’t say a word. I don’t want to say anything that will give a certain image about you. My wife is quite open. If she watches a film, she will tell the producer, it’s a shit film. And I always tell, relax, don’t do that. I know she is telling the truth, but what’s the point of hurting someone.”
Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar will soon be seen in Khel Khel Mein. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Pragya Jaiswal, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Fardeen Khan and Aditya Seal.
