Ajay Devgn is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming movie, Maidaan. Days ahead of its release, it has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). As reported by Bollywood Hungama, the censor board cleared the film without any cuts but asked the makers to add a disclaimer to the movie.
Maidaan makers have been asked to add the disclaimer which reads, “The film is a work of fiction inspired by true events available in the public domain, views of the legendary football players, and research of writers with fictional elements.” The disclaimer should also mention that “the use of certain dialogues is done purely to dramatize the incidents and that the film is not made to incite any lawlessness.”
Besides this, makers have also been asked to add anti-smoking notes in scenes where the characters are seen smoking on screen. They have also been asked to mention end credits in Hindi too.
It has also been revealed that Maidaan is 181.30 minutes long which is approximately 3 hours, 1 minute and 30 seconds.
Maidaan is based on football coach Syed Abdul Rahim, under whose leadership the Indian football team won the Asian Games in 1951 and 1962. The Indian football team had players like Chunni Goswami, PK Banerjee, Balaram, Franco, and Arun Ghosh. Ajay would be essaying the role of Syed Abdul Rahim to tell the story of this unsung hero who was responsible for taking Indian football to new heights and winning accolades for the country.
Previously, producer Boney Kapoor talked about the film and said, “I was amazed that not many are aware of someone as significant as Syed Abdul Rahim. I can just hope that our film inspires youngsters to play football and India soon to bring the World Cup home.”
Maidaan will hit theatres on April 10. This means that the film will clash at the box office with Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
