Actor Imran Khan Breaks Silence on Claims About Him 'Taking Drugs', Says 'It Was Disturbing'
Imran Khan said that people would write things about him without thinking about the repercussions.

Actor Imran Khan has not been seen in a film for a while now. Although the actor had a chance to remain in the spotlight by making public appearances and maintaining an active social media presence, Imran refused to do so, until recently. While Imran Khan’s comeback on social media was met with much aplomb, his absence created quite a stir with several rumours rising about his life and appearance.

In a recent chat with India Today, Imran was asked about the negative rumours spread about his appearance during his time off social media. He said, “Even if you’re not on social media, they’re still legacy media. I get newspapers at the house. My mom, my aunts, and that generation who still get the newspaper at home, would see the images and would be disturbed by it.”

“They would see the images, captions, and news, which implied that I was taking drugs or something. It was disturbing. It’s complicated then to have that conversation with your parents, with your family and say, ‘Look, I can’t manage what those people say and what they do.’ People say these things without consideration, without a thought of how they land,” he added.

Meanwhile, Imran Khan is preparing to make his Bollywood comeback after a nine-year break, marking a significant moment in his career. Imran said, “I’m having these conversations with writers, directors, and producers. I’m trying to find something that really sparks. I guess at this point, two stories have kind of resonated with me, which I’m developing with the directors, but they’re not close to a full project yet. So, I don’t have a proper film that I have signed or a show that I have signed that I’m committed to yet.”

Although it was earlier reported that Imran would star in Vir Das’ directorial debut, Happy Patel, he quickly dismissed the rumours. He told Times Entertainment, “It’s not true. Vir Das is directing and starring in Happy Patel. I am not in the film. They have just used a photograph of me as part of an in-film joke.” This left Imran Khan’s fans disheartened, who are eagerly awaiting his comeback after a long gap. He was last seen in Katti Batti in 2015.
