Actor Darshan's Security Cover In Prison Increased? What We Know

Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is presently in judicial custody, following the allegations against him in the Renuka Swamy murder case. According to recent reports, his security has been allegedly increased by the jail authorities in the prison. Reportedly, 7 staff members of the jail have been appointed outside his cell, who are always on guard. Reports mention that the other inmates in the jail are also strictly being prevented from meeting Darshan. Officials have also been reportedly instructed that outsiders are allowed to meet the murder-accused actor under the scrutiny of 2 staff members. As per reports, Darshan met a prisoner released from jail only a few days ago. Later, after coming out, that prisoner allegedly leaked information to the media about how Darshan is living in the jail. To avoid such incidents again, security has been increased so that fellow inmates will not be able to meet the Renuka Swamy murder accused.

Recently, Darshan had sought home-cooked food stating that he lost weight and was suffering from stomach aches due to a lack of high-protein food. A local court in Bengaluru on July 25 turned down the plea. While denying Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa’s plea to get home-cooked food, the court cited a Supreme Court order in serial killer Charles Sobraj’s case. As per the court, no fundamental rights can be extended to the citizen without reasonable restriction. The court also said that it cannot provide relaxation for someone who is arrested in a murder case. The court also added that doing so will be against Rule 728 of the Karnataka Prisons and Correctional Services Manual (KPCSM)- 2021.

Renuka Swamy murder case

According to police, Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor, had sent obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. As per the reports, Gowda is said to have been in a relationship with Darshan for more than a decade. These obscene messages enraged Darshan, allegedly leading to Renukaswamy’s murder. Pavithra Gowda runs a boutique and has acted in a few movies like Preethi Kithabhu and Chatrigalu Sir Chatrigalu. The films fail to succeed at the box office.
