During the summer season, the most common problem faced by people is the condition of bad odour. Especially, when an individual wears shoes, the socks give out unbearable bad odour.
The season brings with it pleasant sunny days. However, the summer heat is impossible to avoid, causing several inconveniences because of one’s sweating. The profuse sweating causes our feet to become smelly if we are wearing socks. This is due to the moisture retention on the feet, which leads to bacterial growth and causes a bad odour. So, to get rid of that foul smell, follow the tips below.
Wear sandals/slippers
During summer, it is better to wear sandals to avoid the foul-smelling feet. The sandals will provide the much-needed air to your feet and soles, keeping the smell at bay. Remember to avoid plastic-made footwear, as it can cause sweating.
Frequently change socks
Wearing socks for longer periods gives room for bacterial growth and moisture accumulation because of sweat, leading to bad odour. So, avoid wearing a pair for 2 to 3 days, and change it every day. Wearing clean socks regularly will keep the feet fresh.
Keep your feet clean
In summer, prioritise foot hygiene. So, whenever you return home from work or school, the first thing you must do is clean your feet. The feet should be cleaned thoroughly with soap and water. Keep your feet moisturized especially the space between fingers and keep the toenails trimmed.
Check fungal infections
Regularly check your toenails, soles and fingers for any fungal infections. If you see a white patch, consider going to a dermatologist.
Use anti-fungal powder
You can use an anti-fungal powder to keep your feet safe from infections. It can also be applied before you wear socks, to keep the smell at bay. After consulting a dermatologist, you can get this powder from any medical store.
