IIFA 2017: Here're The Best And Worst Dressed Stars At The Green Carpet
IIFA 2017: Here're The Best And Worst Dressed Stars At The Green Carpet
Some pass and some fail at the IIFA green carpet.

The first event of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards wrapped in sheer elan and style despite rain playing a major spoilsport on Friday night. The entire Bollywood brigade including Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Saif Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Dia Mirza walked the green carpet and made heads turn. The award ceremonies are as much about the winners as they're about the style quotient of the film fraternity members.

While IIFA 2017 saw some stunning fashion choices, it also witnessed some disappointing choices. Famed international designers like Ziad Nakad, Zuhair Murad, Gucci, Emporio Armani made their foray on the IIFA traditional green carpet along with some splendid Indian designers like Gauri & Nainika, Swapnil Shinde and Anju Madan. Shining, shimmering and glistening away to glory, the divas were complimented by the dapper dudes and here’s how they looked.

Katrina Kaif

Now, this is what we call a comeback. After her red and golden IIFA Rocks saree debacle, Katrina made sure to make all heads turn at the IIFA green carpet in a beautiful Ziad Nakad couture.

Neha Dhupia

How it is that Dhupia manages to top one horrendous outift after another at almost each IIFA she attends is beyond us. Her outfit looked like a mismatched ball gown and that big black bow at the waist! Fashion police can never let you go with it.

Alia Bhatt

Styled by Ami Patel and making a dazzling display with a multicolored crystal detailed Zahair Murad voluminous ball gown, Alia Bhatt flaunted her alluring body and her perfectly cinched waist in this Spring Summer 2017 strapless couture gown. She looked priceless.

Huma Qureshi

Huma Qureshi looks too scared to experiment with her look. The actress played really safe with all her attires this time and we are not impressed with the diva. Dressed in a fluffy gown, Huma looked much heavier than she is after all that major weight loss.

Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi was our second favourite of the night. She slipped into an embellished LaBourjoisie gown, which she paired with stunning Chopard earrings. She is a vision in red, we have to admit.

Taapsee Pannu

Wearing this Steven Khalil dress, Taapsee Pannu showed up to this years IIFA awards resembling an exploded disco ball. Everything about this dress screams teenage party clothes — right from the tacky black fitted corset dress that Pannu is sporting underneath, to the excessive silver sequence and her over-the-top mane. sheer fabric sheath is too out of the sync dragging her entire look down.

Nargis Fakhri

The actress wore this stunning Gauri And Nainika gown that fitted and flowed in all the right places. The deep maroon colour set off her skin tone fabulously, coupled with the low-key make-up and accessorising.

Bipasha Basu

We have no words to describe this one of a kind fish-tail glittery gown of Bipasha. It looks horrible and we don't want to look at it again. Too much bling kills the look at times, Bipasha.

Disha Patani

Disha Patani looked gorgeous in this Falguni & Shane Peacock creation that had just the right amount of glittering gold! Her elegant hairstyle, the embellished body chain and the nude make-up made this outfit one of the winners of the night.

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki went for a complete disappointment this year. Her pink head to toe ruffles dress made her look drab and not fab. Sporting this Gucci number, Koechlin looked like a thinly sliced piece of Salmon, and while that may be delightful to eat — it is not what one should aspire to resemble.

Varun Dhawan

Styled by Kunal Rawal, Varun Dhawan turned up the dapper quotient with an Emporio Armani tuxedo with a white Gucci shirt that bore embroidered cuffs, a Gucci bow tie, and Yves Saint Laurent shoes. Sporting a clean shaven look, he rounded up the charming look with well-groomed hair and an easy smile. Going for a classic vibe with a tuxedo but incorporating modern elements and zinging it up with the embroidered cuff Gucci shirt, Varun Dhawan aced the formal style but also had fun whilst doing so.

Dia Mirza

Wearing this Rocky S number, Dia had everything pasted to her dress. The look was a dull one with no balance in its composition. It failed you, Dia.

Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput

The cute couple couldn't keep their hands off each other as they walked in together and owned the IIFA 2017 green carpet with their coy smiles, sparkling chemistry, and chic styles. Shahid Kapoor opted for a customized ensemble featuring a grey suit and a black shirt from Anju Madan skipping the tie and rounding up his look with glossy shoes. Mira Rajput shined on the green carpet with her stunning orange Swapnil Shinde gown with a fitted bodice and a delicate belt and a pleated skirt that billowed behind her dramatically. Keeping her hair wavy and swept on to one side, she sported a minimal makeup of delicately lined eyes and pink lips and rounded up the look with a pair of delicate earrings.

Preity Zinta

Pretty Preity walked in with her good looking hubby, Gene Goodenough and was seen pulling off a classic black peplum gown by Gauri And Nainika. Preity Zinta steered clear of any jarring accessories with the exception of diamond danglers. Sporting a chic updo, she finished out the look with minimal makeup. That's the classiest outfit of the evening, we must admit.

Shilpa Shetty

There is a mixed opinion on Shilpa Shetty’s outfit, but we like it, if not love it. She wore a custom Monisha Jaising gown, and showed a bit of leg at the green carpet. The bling was in right amount. It was surely one of the stand-out appearances of the night.
