There is a certain way in which women should observe the fast on this day. The idols or pictures of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, and Goddess Parvati should be placed on a yellow cloth. Women should begin the ritual by worshipping Lord Ganesha at the beginning. After that, they should worship Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati after decorating them with flowers and other items.
As per Hindu religious beliefs, Goddess Parvati got Lord Shiva as her husband after her 108th birth. She did rigorous penance to get Lord Shiva.
