The festival of Guru Purnima is considered a very auspicious festival among the Hindus. This auspicious festival is celebrated on the full moon day in Ashadha. As per religious beliefs, on this day the great saga, Veda Vyasa, the author of Mahabharata was born. Hence, this day is also known as Vyasa Purnima. Special pujas are performed along with recitation of special prayers on this auspicious day. It is said that holding these rituals on this day has a special significance.

According to the Hindu calendar, this year the full moon day of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashadha will start on Saturday, July 20, at 5:59 PM and will end on Sunday, July 21, at 3:46 PM. Considering the date of the moonrise, the festival of Guru Purnima will be commemorated on July 21. In a recent conversation, Astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram from the city of Ayodhya explained that as per the Hindu calendar, the festival of Guru Purnima is celebrated every year on the full moon day of the Ashadha month. This year, the full moon day will start at 5:59 PM on July 20 and will end at 3:46 PM on July 21. At the same time, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will start at 5:37 AM on July 21 and will end at 12:14 AM on July 22. Adding to it, the Nakshatra Uttarashada will be in effect from the dawn of July 21 and will stay till 12:14 AM on July 22. The Shravana Nakshatra and Preeti Yoga also fall on the same date. The Vishkumbh Yoga will start during the morning time of July 21 and will stay till 9:11 PM of the same day.

Explaining the meaning of Preeti Yoga, Astrologer Pandit Kalki Ram said, “Preeti Yoga is also known as Love Yoga. This yoga symbolises positivity. The main planned which is associated with Preeti Yoga is Mercury. It is one of the 14 yogas that are considered to be very sacred for all. This year, the Preeti Yoga falls on the same date as Guru Purnima.”

Talking about Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga, the astrologer mentioned that this day is very sacred to start a new work as all the planets stay in favourable positions during this time. This auspicious yoga will start at 12:08 AM on July 21 and will end at 9:11 PM on the same day.
