Ganesh Chaturthi is one of the most important festivals in India, which is celebrated with pomp and joy. Ayodhya’s famous astrologer, Pandit Kalki Ram said that this year Ganesh Chaturthi would commence from September 7. Right from this day, people will install the idol of Bappa in their homes. While some prefer to worship the Lord for 1 1/2 days, many worship the God for three days, five days, seven days, nine days or for all 10 days. So while buying a Ganpati idol, one must keep a few points in mind.
While buying the idol, pay special attention to the posture of Lord Ganesha and the direction of his trunk.
Choose the idol where Lord Ganesha’s trunk is bent towards the left. It is considered to be the most auspicious kind of idol and many believe that this can help bring happiness, prosperity, and peace in the house.
While buying the idol of Lord Ganesha, make sure that it has a mouse, also referred to as Mooshak, and a Modak in his hand. Bringing such an idol is considered to be very auspicious.
Now, if you want to know which would be the best colour for the idol. then it is best to bring a vermilion-coloured Lord Ganesha into the house. Doing so is believed to increase self-confidence and remove any obstacles or problems going on in life. If you want to bring a white-coloured idol of Lord Ganesha, then it is believed to bring happiness to the house.
Make sure to install the idol of Lord Ganesha in the north direction, which is considered to be the direction of Goddess Laxmi and Lord Shiva. Keeping the face of Lord Ganesha turned towards the north direction might get one the blessings of the Lord as well as of Mahadev and Goddess Laxmi.
