More than 50 top models jetted off to Shanghai, China, for the eagerly awaited Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, which screens on US TV network CBS, November 28. Seductive lingerie, spectacular stage attire and the traditional angel wings graced some of the world's most beautiful women for a fashion show that oozes glamour. For the second consecutive year, coveted American model Dilone walked the VSFS runway, presenting the lingerie brand's latest creations along with Adriana Lima, Cindy Bruna and Elsa Hosk. So who exactly is Dilone?
Early days
Dilone -- whose full name is Janice Dilone -- was born in New York in the mid-1990s. Her career as a model took off in 2016. The young woman, now age 23, signed her first contract a few years earlier with DNA Model Management. Very quickly, she was called upon by prestigious fashion houses like Marc Jacobs (campaigns and shows), Jason Wu, Jean Paul Gaultier and Maison Margiela, among others. This soon sent Dilone rocketing onto the international fashion scene.
Social media presence
Still relatively little known outside the industry, Dilone has a total of more than 96,000 followers across her various social media accounts, of which 94,300 alone are on Instagram (@_dilone). Dilone is far from having the kind of online presence and influence of models like Cara Delevingne, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner. Nevertheless, she still has thousands of fans who will be following her adventures in Shanghai. Plus, with almost daily postings on Instagram, the model could be set to gain followers quickly.
Shows and campaigns
In 2016, Dilone walked in almost one hundred catwalk shows, with one opening appearance and four show closures. And the model doesn't look far from matching this impressive figure in 2017. For the spring/summer 2018 season alone -- which ends with the haute couture shows in January -- the brunette has already notched up around 30 shows, for fashion houses such as Jeremy Scott, Anna Sui, Burberry, Tommy Hilfiger, Topshop Unique, Moschino, Fendi, Balmain and Hermès. She has also starred in campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Sephora and Stella McCartney.
Dilone and Victoria's Secret
In November 2017, the American model starred in the eagerly awaited Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for the second consecutive year. After walking last year's show in Paris, Dilone appeared no less thrilled to announce being picked to appear once again this year. "I'm so excited to announce that I'll be in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show for my 2nd year," the model said in a social media post, accompanied by a fun-filled video.
