Pakistani Fans Criticise Virat Kohli's 'Slow' Century Against South Africa, Call Babar Azam 'GOAT'
Pakistani cricket fans were seemingly unimpressed by Virat Kohli's 'slow' century against South Africa in ICC World Cup 2023 game on Sunday.

Pakistan cricket fans assembled on ‘X’ on Sunday to claim Babar Azam was a better batter than India’s Virat Kohli. Why? Because cricket is all about online banter and some spicy drama, right? Kohli celebrated his 35th birthday by slamming a memorable and match-winning century against South Africa at the glorious Eden Gardens in ICC World Cup 2023 encounter on Sunday. Remaining unbeaten on 101* (121 balls), Kohli matched the record of Little Master Sachin Tendulkar of 49 ODI tons. Kohli also bettered Tendulkar’s 451 innings with a mere 277 innings to reach the elite landmark.

“Well played Virat. It took me 365 days to go from 49 to 50 earlier this year. I hope you go from 49 to 50 and break my record in the next few days. Congratulations!!” an ecstatic Tendulkar joined the country to extend heartfelt wishes to Kohli’s hunger for runs.

While Indian fans celebrated country’s thumping 243-run win over the Proteas who managed only 83 in response to India’s 326, Kohli’s century was talk of the town for which he was deservedly crowned the Player of the Match award.

The fans from the cricket-rival nation Pakistan, however, seemed unimpressed by Kohli’s record century. Some accused the Indian batter for batting for personal records while others drew comparisons with skipper Azam’s approach with the bat.

Kohli has slammed two centuries and four half-centuries, thereby accumulating 543 runs in 8 innings in the ICC World Cup 2023 so far, only second to Quinton de Kock’s 550 runs.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, on the other hand, has 282 runs in his tally with four half-centuries to his name.

Meanwhile, with the crushing win over South Africa on Sunday, India maintained its winning streak of 8 wins in 8 matches.
